Day One: Arrival in Malabo
Upon arrival at the airport, the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris will welcome you and then transfer you to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight at Yoli Hotel.
Day Two: Malabo City Tour
This morning after breakfast, we will drive through the beautiful city of Malabo and visit the cathedral, a gothic-styled built architecture that Luis Saegarra Llairado designed. Next to the cathedral is the presidential palace. We also stop at the central market to witness a typical colourful market in the African ambience. Visit the City Hall, the fantastic architecture of numerous Spanish buildings and much more. Then drive back to the Hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we go for an excursion to the village of Ureca that stretches south of Malabo and visit the Eola waterfalls, and a beach walk along the Moraka beach where it is possible to spot marine turtle laying their eggs on the beach in the night. Later in the evening, we drive back to Malabo for the night. Dinner and overnight at Yoli Hotel.
Day Three: Malabo to Beta
After breakfast, we will head on for the airport for the morning flight to the mainland part of the country, Bata. After a 20min flight, we attain Bata airport from where our local guide will transfer you to the Hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we will tour Bata and visit the clock square, the cathedral, the colorful market, the mosque, and the central avenues. Time permitting, we may go to the seafront in Bomé for a beach walk in the afternoon before returning to the Ibis Hotel for the dinner and overnight.
Day Four: Bata to Mongomo and Oyala
On this day, we depart Bata for Mongomo where we go through habitats and villages along the road bank with long patches of thick rainforest. Upon arrival, we transfer to the Akoakam hotel for lunch. Then on the afternoon, we go for the sightseeing tour of Mongomo. Mongomo is the hometown of Equatorial Guinea’s first president of the Fang ethnic tribe. Visit the beautiful stadium which hosted the 2015 African Cup Of Nations, The newly built cathedral – a reduced copy of St Paul’s Cathedral in the Vatican- The center that boasts a stela in respect of the national history with the bust of the three leaders of the country: Bonifacio Ondo (Former head of internal autonomy during the Spanish reign), Francisco Masias the shot dictator and of course the current president Teodoro Obiang. Then drive across long patches of thick rainforest and back to Oyala. Overnight at Djibloho Hotel.
Day Five: Oyala to Bata and fly out
After breakfast, we will visit Oyala, a futuristic city that is soon to become the capital of Equatorial Guinea. Settled in the middle of the jungle, Oyala, also known as ‘the city to peace’. We will visit some gigantic buildings that will serve as government offices, hotels, supermarkets and others. We then leave for Bata stopping at Anisok for a quick visit. From Bata, we catch the domestic flight to Malabo airport for check-in for the connecting flight back home.
