The Ba’Aka
Central African forests are the ancestral homes of Ba’Aka pygmies, traditionally hunters and gatherers, who have been integral to the establishment of conservation efforts. The Ba’Aka are the cornerstone of the tourism programs. Without their knowledge of the forest and its wildlife, the gorilla habituation programs wouldn’t exist. Every time scientists or tourists enter the forest they are escorted by Ba’Aka guides.
One of the trip experiences to Central Africa is the time spent some time with the Ba’Aka. You can join them on their traditional “net hunts” for small game such as duiker. At the same time you can collect edible, functional and medicinal roots, leaves and fruit and Ba’Aka women will show you in their uses. Later in the evening, you can enjoy Ba’aka music and dance. The Ba’Aka are a remarkable experience.
