The highlights of this Madagascar adventure includes visiting the Special Reserve of Andasibe to see the Indri, the largest lemurs on the island, Ranomafana National Park, Explore the Isalo National Park, explore the low, mid and high cities of Tulear.

 

Day One: Arrival in Antananarivo

On your arrival in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, you will be welcomed by the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris who wi then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight. In the evening, enjoy a night walk in the area of Andasibe to observe night active lemurs and other nocturnal animals. Dinner and overnight at Grace Lodge or Andasibe Hotel or similar.

 

Day Two: Andasibe Natural Reserve

After your breakfast, you will visit the Special Reserve of Andasibe to see the Indri Indri, the largest lemurs on the island. This reserve is unique with a wide variety of orchids, canopy, chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds. Afterwards, walk through the orchid park. In the afternoon visit Andasibe, a typical Betsimisaraka village, and the second largest tribe on the island. Dinner and overnight at Grace Lodge or Andasibe Hotel or similar.

 

Day Three: Antsirabe

This morning, you will drive back to Antananarivo and proceed to Antsirabe. On the way, visit the Ambatolampy, a large agricultural city. Then in the late afternoon arrive in Antsirabe, ‘the place of salt’, an elegant city well known as the center of the beer industry. Founded by the Norwegians in 1856. Dinner and overnight at Chambres du Voyageur, Vatolahy or Royal Palace Hotel.

 

Days Four and Five: Ranomafana National Park

Today, you will drive to Ranomafana National Park which has rain-forested hills and abundant wildlife. The park has also numerous small streams which pours down water to Namorona River. The next day, enjoy several hours walking in the park where you may spot lemurs, chameleons and other animals. Dinner and overnight at Centrest or Setam Lodge.

 

Days Six and Seven: Isalo National Park

You will have an early start to drive to Isalo national park via Fianarantsoa,  the capital of the Betsileo tribes. Stop for a wine tasting in Ambalavao, the center of the wine industry. You will also visit the ‘Anteimoro Paper Factory’, drive through Ihosy, the capital of the Bara tribes, and the mountain chain of Andringitra, marking the end of the highland and the beginning of the south. The next morning explore the Isalo National Park. You will walk to the natural swimming pool where you may spot sifakas, brown lemurs and ringtaild lemurs, as well as fifty-five species of birds, lizards and snakes. Dinner and overnight at Isalo Ranch or Jardin du Roy.

 

Days Eight and Nine: Ifaty

This morning, you will head to Tuléar. On the way, check on the different ‘Mahafaly and Antandroy tombs’. Then proceed to Ifaty situated in the deep south, the landscape is dominated by the spiny forest like the cactus, different euphorbiacea and didieracea. Here, mangrove trees line the coast, alternated by Vezo fishing villages. The next day is at your leisure. Since Ifaty is on the beach, it is an ideal place for diving and snorkeling, and popular for birdwatchers. You can also experience the Vezo Fishermen’s life. Many excursions are possible at an additional cost. Dinner and overnight at Hotel de la Plage or Le Paradisier or similar.

 

Day Ten: Antananarivo

Have your breakfast and fly back to Antananarivo. The driver will pick you up and transfer to your hotel. At leisure in the afternoon. Antananarivo is the city where the first king started to unify the different kingdoms of the island. Spend your evening walking to explore the low, mid and high cities. Dinner and overnight at Residence Lapasoa or Hotel Carlton or similar.

 

Day Eleven: Fly Out

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight
