On this adventure, you will experience Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Fez, Desert and Marrakech.

Day One –  Arrival in  Casablanca

On arrival in Casablanca, your guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris will welcome you and pick you from the airport. Then transfer you to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Sofitel Hotel

 

Day TwoChefchaouen

This morning after your breakfast, you will visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, then proceed to Rabat. You will then visit Oudaia Kasbah, a heavily fortified town – a medina within the medina complete with mosques, souks. We stop to visit the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and Hassan Tower, the site of Sultan Yacoub el Mansour. Visit Chellah Necropolis, dating from the time of Almohads, here you also find many ruins of the Roman Empire too.   Then transfer to Chefchaouen in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ryad Lina.

 

Day Three – Chefchaouen

On this day, you will drive to Chefchaouen is a charming place with strong Andalusian connections with its distinctive pale blue and whitewashed buildings. It was here that many Jews and Moors fled during the Spanish Inquisition. You will do a short hike to the ruin of the Spanish mosque with its panoramic view, a visit to the Ras el-Ma, where the city’s freshwater springs from the mountain; and a stroll through the wonderfully restored kasbah and gardens. Shopping for handicrafts. Dinner overnight at Ryad Lina.and

 

Day Four – Fez

After your breakfast, you will head for Fez. You will explore Fez with a local guide by visiting Fez el-Bali (Old Fez) founded in the eighth century by Moulay Idriss I, the labyrinthine old quarter, with its 9,000 narrow lanes, alleys and souks, Visit  local craftsmen in the market working with bronze and pottery, check on the 14th-century Karaouine — one of the oldest, still-functioning universities in the world, and Nejjarine Square. And finally visit the Royal Palace, madrasas and mellah (Jewish quarter) in Fez el-Jadid. Dinner and overnight at Riad Al Amine Fes.

 

Day Five – Meknes and Volubis

On this day, we have optional activities, you can either relax in Fez and go to the hammam or take a cooking class or take a day trip to Meknes and Roman Ruins of Volubilis. Once home to nearly 20,000 people during the Roman occupation, many of its structures and mosaics are still intact. From Volubilis, it’s only a short jaunt to Meknes, which was the first capital of the Alouite Dynasty, under the bloody rule of Moulay Idriss I. Dinner and overnight at Riad Al Amine Fes.

 

Day Six – Midelt, Merzouga and Erg Chebbi dunes

Have breakfast and drive to the mountains of the Middle Atlas where you may spot Barbary Apes in the south of Azrou. Get to the city of Midelt and descend into the Ziz Valley oasis. The great sand sea of Merzouga. The camp is set in a beautiful spot between sand dunes. We will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by campfire. We sleep in luxury canvas tents.

Day Seven – Erg Chebbi dunes

After breakfast, we will head off into the vastness of the dunes on a camel caravan accompanied by camel teers. Camel have been used in the desert life over the centuries. Used to ship the cargoes from Sub Saharan African to the ports of the Mediterranean coast. You can ride or walk alongside the caravan led by Berber guides.  We can possibly visit one Nomadic family living in the area. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on the dunes and then return back to the desert camp. In the afternoon you can either do some sandboarding at the camp or trekking through the desert or relax in the many areas spread around the camp. Or if you prefer we can travel to view the Dayet Sirji lake or head all the way back to Rissani and visit the local souk there.

Day Eight – Merzouga, Nekob, Agdz, Ouarzazate, Ait BenHaddou, High Atlas, Marrakech

This morning, you will depart the desert and proceed to the volcanic mountains of Sarhro with dramatic rock formation and gorges of superb views. This area is well known for fossils, mainly ammonites, which are plentiful in the mountains. Reaching the city of Nekob, where we stop for lunch, we start seeing the first palm trees of the Draa Valley a lush date palm oasis nearly 150 miles long. The valley floor is a verdant patchwork of fruit orchages, vegetable clops, rose farms and of course date palm trees of 18 different varieties. Then we pass the city of Agdz and arrive at Ouarzazate. Here we make a stop to view the famous Ksar of Ait BenHaddou. From here we set onto the famous pass of Tizi and Tichka taking us across the High Atlas Mountains on a dramatic drive towards Marrakech. Dinner and overnight at Riad Reves D’ Orient.

 

Day NineMarrakech Red City

You will go and explore Marrakech city by visiting medina, the old walled section of town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at its architectural jewels, including the soaring Koutoubia minaret and Dar Si Said; housed in a palace, it is among the most beautiful of its kind in the world. Continue to the Bahia Palace, an exemplary specimen of privileged life in the 19th century. Visit Djemaa el-Fna, Marrakech’s main square, which is filled with orange juice stalls and vendors, along with fire-eaters, mime artists, snake charmers and street musicians performing every where. You may also wish to explore the city’s fabled, labyrinthine souks. Dinner and overnight at Riad Reves D’ Orient.

 

Day Ten – Depart from Marrakech / Casablanca

After breakfast, depending on the time of your flight, you will be transferred to either Marrakesh or Casablanca airport to catch your flight back home.
