Tanzania Southern Circuit
Day one: Arrival
On your arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by the guide who will then transfer you to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Peacock Hotel. Bed and breakfast.
Day Two:
After breakfast, depart for Selous Game Reserve for late afternoon game drive. Alternatively, from your hotel transferred to the Dar Tazara Railway Station for Selous Express train with your picnic boxes. The coastal panorama of coconut palms with its small villages of mud huts makes way to the Mangrove swamps, the Rufiji River system. You will visit the Northern parties of the Selous, arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight Rufiji River Camp. Full board
Day Three:
After breakfast, go for the walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger for approximately two hours. This shows you the real bush of African which allows you to see things which you may miss in the jeep like birds and insects. Go back to the lodge by vehicle: Lunch at the lodge. After lunch explore the Selous further by game driving in the Selous. Overnight: Rufiji River Lodge Camp.
Day Four:
After breakfast explore the Rufiji River by boat. Here Hippos huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, a tremendous variety of birds grace the grasses on the shores. You will get the opportunity also to see crocodiles on the sandbars and watch other animals drinking along the river banks. Lunch at the camp. After lunch, game drive in the Selous. Dinner and overnight Rufiji River Camp.
Day Five:
Early morning game drive in the Selous. Breakfast at the camp. After breakfast; transfer to Ruaha National Park, or transfer to the airstrip for Ruaha Charter. You will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to Ruaha River Lodge for check-in and lunch. Have an afternoon game drive or game walk. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.
Day Six:
After breakfast, full day game drive of Ruaha National Park with picnic lunch. Ruaha, with an area of 10,300sq.km. Is the second largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River which flows along its entire eastern border creating spectacular gorges and scenery, features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals include greater and lesser kudu, sable antelope. Bird life is rich, with over 370 species recorded. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.
Day Seven:
After breakfast drive to Mikumi National Park for sun set game drive, overnight at Mikumi wildlife Camp (Kikoboga) or Mikumi Bush Camp.
Day Eight:
After breakfast a full day game drive in Mikumi National Park, overnight at Mikumi Wildlife Camp.
Day Nine:
After breakfast drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park for half day Chimpanzee hiking and game drive, and then drive back to Dar es Salaam or transferred to Selous Airstrip for Dar Charter.
Day Ten:
Transferred to the airport for an international airline connection or for Zanzibar Beach Holidays.
