7 Days Zanzibar Trip
Day One: Arrival
Upon your arrival at Zanzibar airport, you will be welcomed by the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris who will take you to the Menai Bay Conservation Area.. Dinner and Overnight at Fumba Beach Lodge
Day Two: Snorkeling
After breakfast, you will depart Fumba and head to see the dolphins, sandbanks, islands and coral reefs of the Menai Bay Conservation Area. This will be a full day trip with snorkeling equipment, guides and instructors, ice cold sodas, mineral water and beer, a delicious Zanzibari seafood lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster, gastronomic fruit tasting, coffee and Amarula liqueur. The Menai Bay Conservation Area has two different species of dolphins, the Indo-pacific humpback and the bottlenose which you mat see during this excursions.
After snorkelling we go to Kwale Island where we have our lunch in a restaurant. The buffet lunch includes fish, slipper lobster, calamari, rice and sauces all served hot from the grill. The crew also prepares and presents a gastronomic fruit tasting with a large selection of delicious tropical fruits. Given time, we can explore the natural lagoon found on Kwale Island. The lagoon is surrounded by a mangrove forest and swimming in the lagoon makes for an unforgettable experience. Then later return by traditional lanteen sail as you enjoy the sundowner.
Day Three: Leisure
Have your leisurely breakfast today and later enjoy the facilities at Fumba Beach Lodge and the area generally or go for the optional Stone day trip.
Day Four: Jozani Forest
This morning after breakfast at Fumba, the guide will take you to Jozani National Park. Go for the walk through the natural forest and view the rare Red Colobus Monkeys, only found in Zanzibar. Enjoy a walk through the Mangroves and you may even be lucky enough to see the Elephant Shrew that is endemic to Zanzibar. If time permits, visit the butterfly farm. Then continue to South to Kizimkazi and Unguja Lodge Dinner and overnight at Unguja Lodge.
Day Five: Leisure
Today will be at Leisure with a dip in the pool, swim in the sea, sunbathing or take an optional guided walk around the local village (small extra charge applies which goes toward supporting the local village).
Day Six: Snorkeling
After your breakfast, you will head out on a boat ride to swim and snorkel with the local pods of dolphins. The shallow coastal water around Kizimkazi in the Menai Bay Conservation area is a place where dolphins are regularly seen, they come here for the reliable food supply, to nurse their calves, rest and socialize. Several bottlenose pods stay at Kizimkazi all year-round. We also see the shyer humpback dolphins. Later return to the lodge and have the rest of the day at leisure
Day Seven: Leisure
This will be another day at leisure or explore more of this tropical island.
Day Eight: Fly Home
After the breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the airport where you continue with your onward flight back home.
